United We Serve: An Arts Idea Kit

Arts Idea Kit

There are a variety of ways for arts organizations to contribute to President and Mrs. Obama's United We Serve campaign. United We Serve offers a golden opportunity to demonstrate the work arts groups already do in providing an important platform for civic engagement in critical areas such as Education, Health, Community Renewal, Energy & Environment and Safety & Security.

It can be difficult to find an activity or type of engagement that is both practical and effective, given the constraints of time, schedule and resources. Depending on your organization and its goals there are a variety of ways to participate. To help organizations get started Learning Worlds Institute and Americans for the Arts have developed United We Serve: An Arts Idea Kit. The toolkit focuses on three suggested areas of participation: engage volunteers in short-term project, collaborate with other organizations, or document and celebrate your projects. Use the tool kit to choose the way that is best suited to your situation.

Whichever means of participation you choose be sure to return to serve.artsusa.org to document and celebrate your project. Visit www.AllForGood.org to register your volunteer opportunities or find volunteer opportunities in your area.

If you have other ideas to expand upon the toolkit or would like to share ways your organization is supporting President and Mrs. Obama's United We Serve campaign please share by commenting on this post.
