Ovation! Musical Theatre Bainbridge Entertains Local Community
We felt there was a need in our community (25,000 residents, island 35 minutes from Seattle by ferry) for more opportunities to see and participate in the performing arts. Consequently, a group of us - including several theatre professionals - founded a nonprofit company called Ovation! Musical Theatre Bainbridge in 2003. We have produced 15 fully staged productions, entertained thousands and involved hundreds of area residents since that time. We have no paid employees and we do not have our own facility - we rent the local high school stage. Our Artistic Director, Music Director and Costume Designer are all theatre professionals who volunteer their time (they receive a small symbolic stipend). Ron Milton, our Artistic Director, is also our Technical Director, Lighting Designer and Master Carpenter. We build our sets in his garage and our costumes in Barbara Klingberg (Costume Designer's) basement. We operate carefully, strive to have fun and create art with our neighbors and have never lost money. Many photos and more information at www.ovationmtb.com.
